Coming to university may seem scary at first, but
it is such an amazing experience and I can't think of a better place to
come than Exeter. There are lots of opportunities for you to follow
whichever branch of mathematics you are interested in and if, like me,
when you come you don't know which branch you enjoy the most there's a
wide range of modules offered; you can even take modules from other
schools! So far I've kept my options open by taking a variety of
modules, but I'm looking forward to being able to take some more
specialised modules next year. The staff and students are incredibly
supportive here, and by having students like me helping with admissions
days, there's always someone there to help you, right from your
application to your graduation!
But
life in Exeter isn't all study! Since I started, I have done a lot
volunteering, including running a club for underprivileged children
from the local area to encourage them to take part in a healthy
lifestyle. I play in the university's symphony orchestra, I've been
able to continue my love for different types of dance and in my first
year I was secretary for MathSoc. Through all these activities I've
met so many people and have developed greatly as a person. There are
so many opportunities to get involved and to try something new, I can't
recommend enough just to dive in and give it a go.
The area in
and around Exeter has everything you could want, from pubs and clubs to
beaches, stunning scenery and shopping. I've loved every moment of my
time at Exeter University, and have grown to love the town and
surrounding area. Exeter hasn't just given me an education; it's given
me life skills and some amazing experiences I'll never forget.
