This lab is just one of several laboratories with a team of highly trained technical staff to support students. The mechanics lab is used for practical work for mechanical and structural engineering modules, including statics and dynamics, which both make use of the computers and testing equipment available.

Here you see a few students studying bridge building using lollypop sticks and learning which design styles work best. Shortly after this the bridges were put to the test by hanging weights from them. The pictures below show the results!
